Bay Area Audiobooks is an audiobook production service designed exclusively to help authors narrate their books turning them into audiobooks. With over 40 years of experience in the audio/music industry for the last 15 years, we have focused exclusively on audiobooks. We have over 500 audiobooks worth of experience to help you with yours.

The general guideline for estimating time needed is based on a word count of approximately 9200 words equaling approximately one hour of finished audio. This will take roughly 2 to 2 1/2 hours in the studio with proper preparation and direction. 

Yes, we offer professional recording services using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques  in a world class facility to ensure the highest quality sound and experience.  Not just that, you will work with an experienced audiobook director throughout the entire process.

No, at this time we do not offer publishing services.  Most clients upload directly to ACX/Audible.  Some choose to use alternative distributors such as Authors Republic.

You can think of an audiobook director as a guide and your own personal narration coach throughout the process. While following along word for word with the manuscript and pointing out any discrepancies or omissions, we also work to make sure that the pacing and the energy as well as the emotional delivery matches the material appropriately. 

We do not do casting or have narrators to narrate your book for you. While there's certainly nothing wrong with that if you decide to go that route, it just isn't what we do best. We believe with non-fiction writing that the best person to narrate, and the one most suitable to tell the story to the listener is the author themselves. The authenticity and connection to the material is truly a perfect match. That said, if you as the author have procured someone to read the material for you, we would still be happy to handle the production of the audiobook.
